Odessa High School Students Win Environmental Contest

Future Farmers of America and Agriscience team from Odessa High School won the 2025 Delaware Envirothon held at Blackbird State Forest.

It’s the first time in 23 years a team other than one from Charter School of Wilmington won the competition. Charter came in second and Newark Charter School placed third.

Each member of the winning team earned a $500 scholarship from the Delaware Envirothon and a plaque for their school.

Each team demonstrated their knowledge in the areas of aquatic ecology, soils/land use, wildlife, and forestry. They also had to make an oral presentation on the topic of “Roots and Resiliency: Fostering Forest Stewardship in a Canopy of Change.”

This year’s event featured a record total of 22 high school teams.
