May 16, 2023 – Brandywine School District is excited and proud to announce that Samsung has named Brandywine High School a National Winner in “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow”, a nationwide competition for public school students demonstrating how they use STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills to create positive change and address pressing issues in their local communities. Brandywine High School’s proposed solution for low-cost Assistive Technology was also selected by Samsung employees as the “Employee Choice Winner”.

Samsung Electronics America President and CEO KS Choi announced the three National Winners of the 2022-2023 competition this morning in Washington, D.C. following live pitches on Monday to a panel of judges by Brandywine High School and nine other National Finalist teams. The Brandywine High School team was one of more than one thousand competition entrants who worked on their project across the school year, advancing through multiple levels of the competition.

“Samsung Solve for Tomorrow gives us a front-row view of the tremendous potential of this upcoming generation of STEM thinkers and do-ers,” says Ann Woo, Senior Director, Corporate Citizenship, Samsung Electronics America. “Their ingenuity in developing creative solutions to community problems and their commitment in bringing projects from idea to reality are truly inspiring.”

“Achieving such a pinnacle of student success is impressive,” says Lincoln Hohler, Brandywine School District Superintendent. “But winning an engineering award with a product specifically designed to assist others with daily life challenges is priceless!

These incredible students are a shining example of why we are proud to be BSD!”
